Background
From August 13 to August 16, deceased people come back to home to see their family.Family members who live far from home visit their hometown and prepare for meeting deceased family members. 
On August 13, people make a small fire in front of their house for deceased family members not to get lost. 
During Obon, people eat Shojin ryori – an ordinary vegetarian food for Buddhist monks.
On August 16, end of Obon, people float paper lanterns down the river (or sea).
