Weblio reimagines virtual classroom

March 1, 2017—Weblio, Inc. unveiled its own web-based learning platform—WebRTC. Packed with a wide range of highly integrated functions, the system is designed to deliver an easier, updated, and individualized virtual learning experience.

Usability and interface:
WebRTC features all fundamental virtual classroom functionalities in a straightforward, one-window interface that does not require switching between multiple applications. In fact, it is accessible directly from the student’s and tutor’s lesson page to attend classes in one go. The lesson material is conveniently displayed side by side with student’s and tutor’s video feed, chat box and other configuration utilities.

Technical support:
Aside from the typical student chat, one of WebRTC’s unique features on the tutor’s site is the availability of Admin Chat during corporate classes (only). It is devised to confirm tutor’s attendance and provide real-time assistance straight from Weblio’s support team. The system also has its notable timekeeping feature that counts down the minutes to conclude the class and records when the tutor and student go online. A device configuration utility, where you can check your audio and video devices, is also seated conveniently at the top of the page. WebRTC’s ensures online lessons will be smooth and easy for its end users.

This virtual classroom initiative runs best in Google Chrome (web browser). Although platform versions for mobile devices are not available yet, it is expected of Japan’s leading online English school, Weblio, Inc. to deliver real soon.
